HIV-specific entry and residence regulations for Chile

There are no restrictions for people with HIV/AIDS. There are no specific legal regulations concerning people with AIDS.

Neither a medical certificate nor an HIV test result is required when entering the country. Foreigners with a known HIV infection are not subject to specific residence regulations. There are no regulations regarding the control, deportation or expulsion of those concerned.

Antiretroviral medication can be carried for personal use (quantities according to duration of stay). It is recommended to carry a prescription.

The U.S. Department of State is unaware of any HIV/AIDS entry restrictions for visitors to or foreign residents of Chile.

Chile now requires a letter from a doctor including an HIV test for people who are applying for longer stay visas of 1 year or more.
